Choose College Executive Staff

Staff areas of expertise include educational preparedness, curriculum design, training and public outreach. In addition to education conference and workshop development and implementation, our staff has overseen creation and assessment of standardized test preparation methods, development of evaluative measures that gauge student success and design of innovative methods for reaching diverse student populations.

Headquartered in the San Francisco Bay Area, our staff is made up of experts in the fields of education and outreach, with more than a century of combined experience. Our efforts are tailored to connect with youth, educators, parents, and administrators on common ground, and are often a bit “outside of the box.” The extensive experience of our staff is reflected in the diversity of initiatives and programs put forward by the Choose College Educational Foundation.

  • Robyn T. Fisher, Ed.D
    Robyn T. Fisher, Ed.D Advisory Board President

    Robyn Fisher, Ed.D, is President of the Advisory Board for Choose College Educational Foundation, Inc.® Robyn is also the President and CEO of R.T. Fisher Educational Enterprises, Inc.® (RTF®), the founding and management organization of the Choose College Educational Foundation®, the QUAD®, and the Educator’s Institute®. RTF® is an educational and public outreach consulting firm with expertise in designing, implementing, and evaluating academic development programs; planning and facilitating educational meetings and conferences; writing and implementing grant proposals; and developing training courses. Founded in 1999, RTF has earned a reputation as a community resource whose work moves beyond the achievement gap rhetoric and identifies, through critical discussion and interaction, working definitions and tangible applications of culturally and linguistically responsive, relevant, and rigorous curriculum.

    Prior to founding RTF, Dr. Fisher served as the Director of the California Student Opportunity Access Program and the Associate Director of San Jose State University’s Pre-College Programs. Pre College Programs, a 7-program unit within San Jose State University’s Academic Services Department, was a program-oriented collaboration among existing pre-college projects, local schools, and community organizations to serve underrepresented middle and high school students with the goal of increasing their postsecondary enrollment and completion rates. In this position she was charged with increasing college enrollment and completion of local high school students.

    Dr. Fisher began her career has a legislative fellow with the California State Senate assigned to the Senate Budget and Fiscal Review Committee. She then worked for both the San Jose Mayor and later City Manager. Dr. Fisher has served as a consultant on many federal, state and local educational programs including Upward Bound, the Ronald McNair Scholars Program, the University of California System, the California State University System, ARCHES I3SLOPE and ACCESS, and the 21st Century Community Learning Centers. She has designed academic development and test preparation programs that have successfully prepared students for the SAT 9, CAHSEE, PSAT, SAT I and II, ACT, GRE and GMAT.

    Ms. Fisher earned a MPA from SJSU and her B.A., M.Ed and Ed.D from Mills College. She is also the co-founder and Board Chair of the African American Regional Educational Alliances, Inc.® (AAREA®).

  • Monique August
    Monique August Executive Director

    Monique August is the Executive Director of Choose College Educational Foundation, Inc.™

    Monique received her BA in Sociology and a MSW with a concentration in Children, Youth and Families from San Jose State University. She has received Non-Profit Business Management training through CSU East Bay Continuing Education Program and Compasspoint. In addition, Monique has received certification in Domestic Violence Counseling and extensive training in Teen Drug and Alcohol Abuse.

    Her passion for enhancing the quality of life for underserved populations has led her to research, create, and manage academic and life enrichment and intervention programs for over 15 years. Monique has worked intensely with families and communities in Alameda, Santa Clara, San Francisco, San Mateo, and Contra Costa Counties.

    Her experience includes working with foster youth, homeless families, group homes and incarcerated youth. Monique’s management experience includes overseeing THE QUAD® and San Jose Cal-SOAP, with each program employing 30+ employees and operating up to 10 academic centers concurrently.
